Description: Tall and of a lean build, K'trenal has shoulder length black hair and very expressive dark brown eyes. He would have very attractive facial features if he could lose the somewhat harassed look he always seems to carry. Tends to dress in dark coloured clothes, normally black trousers and a black, blue or green shirt, and absolutely always looks scruffy. He doesn't seem to even own any formal type clothes, but it doesn't really matter since he doesn't go to parties or Gather's anyway.

Personality: K'trenal is very anti-social and tends to act aggressively in situations he sees as threatening to him. In fact, to many he doesn't appear to be a very nice person at all, since he is totally incapable of interacting with them. Often, if he is in a situation he doesn't like, he will hit first and ask questions later, preferably from within the safety of his weyr, which will have conveniently become heavily barricaded between the time when he gets upset and ends up in a fight and when someone, usually the Weyrleader, needs to come and talk to him. Underneath all of his outward aggression, K'trenal is a very insecure and nervous individual, with an unshakeable belief that everything that goes wrong is his fault, and therefore deserves it when he gets hurt, to the point of refusing help even when he desperately needs it. Although he hates it when someone is nasty to him, he understands it more than when someone is nice, so often anyone attempting to become friends with him will often be met with extreme aggression. To a certain extent, his violent reaction to most situations is more of a desperate cry for attention more than anything else, as during his childhood he was mostly ignored except for when he started fights, which is now so ingrained he doesn't know how else he can possibly get the attention he needs, although this typical response tends to scare off anyone who'd be willing to give him the love and attention he needs, resulting in a somewhat vicious cycle.

History: K'trenal was born to two MasterHarpers at the Harper Hall at Fort Hold, and was the youngest of nine children. The result of this was to create a lot of competition between them for the love of their parents, which was limited at best. K'trenal was mostly ignored by his father Treno, who was very music orientated and so had little time for his youngest son who had no musical talent whatsoever. His mother Kelia was more sympathetic, and spent a lot of time with K'trenal to compensate for what he didn't get from his father. This created a lot of friction between him and his siblings, who, although they recieved a lot of attention from their father, felt that nothing could replace their mother's love.

This all came to a head when Kelia was killed in a riding accident one winter morning. K'trenal was inadvertantly blamed for this, since he was there at the time, and moreover, the whole family was hurting and they needed a scapegoat, regardless of whether K'trenal deserved it or not.

From then on, Treno totally ignored K'trenal as always, but without his mother to pick up the slack, K'trenal noticed it all the more. He began to pick fights with his siblings to try and get his father's attention, which to a certain extent worked, in that it got him yelled at, which was attention of sorts, but he soon became terrified of being shouted at.

In a way, he looked up to his father as being the strong, powerful and seemingly all knowing man a father was supposed to be, and yet hated him, constantly struggling to live up to his impossibly high standards.

K'trenal was Searched for a clutch of eggs at High Reaches Weyr at the age of 16, along with his 19 year old brother, Trenaro. Trenaro Impressed a green at that clutch, where K'trenal failed to Impress, which Trenaro-cum-Tr'naro used to torment K'trenal. It was three years later, after a further ten clutches, seven of which K'trenal was banned from standing for after fighting with the other Candidates, that he finally Impressed brown Pherephith at the very last clutch he intended to stand for.

For a while, K'trenal's behaviour improved, since he was too focussed on Pherephith to fight with anyone, but as soon as he was moved to a fighting wing, the one which happened to contain his brother Tr'naro as well, he went rapidly downhill, resorting to fighting with Tr'naro, and ultimately anyone else who tried to break them apart. High Reaches' Weyrleader was not very happy about this, and after spending half an hour yelling at him, transferred him to Igen Weyr, suspecting that it was more the proximity to his brother that was the problem than anything else.

K'trenal managed to stay relatively out of trouble for the whole of a week at Igen, before ending up in a fight with the Lord Holder of Igen Hold. Igen's Weyrleader, being less tolerant of aggressive riders than High Reaches' Weyrleader, moved K'trenal to Fort Weyr where it was hoped he'd respond to the more formal atmosphere.

Which he did. He hated it so much he found any excuse to be out of the Weyr, spending most of his time in unexplored parts of the Southern Continent, even resorting to running away in the middle of Threadfall just to get away. Fort's Weyrleader grew tired of this, and exiled K'trenal to the Southern Continent, since he seemed to like it there so much. And so K'trenal turned to the newly founded Ginealar Weyr...

Dragon: Pherephith

Age: 4

Colour: Brown

Description: A very large, dark chocolatey coloured brown, Pherephith is quite stocky and well built, appearing somewhat larger than he actually is.

Personality: When they say a dragon is the rider's better half, they could not be more accurate with Pherephith and K'trenal. Pherephith is quite open and friendly, willing to talk to most other dragons and even some people other than his rider. He will happily flirt with greens and golds, and becomes very flattering during a mating flight.

Abilities and weaknesses: Has an incredibly good stamina for his size, and is capable of flying for hours on end, which is useful when K'trenal takes it into his head to run away from the Weyr for a few days. He isn't particularly fast though, not as much as some other browns, and is far slower than greens and blues, but has enough stamina to recover quickly from a short 'sprint'. He has a very hot, strong flame, which tends to be just a little out of control.

Description: Flit is a very large firelizard, with dark, almost black hide with slight reddish undertones.

Personality: Incredibly loyal to K'trenal for some bizarre reason, Flit is a very happy and contented firelizard. He doesn't understands why his owner dislikes him so much, but now seems to consider it an affectionate dislike, and so is always found very close to K'trenal. His favourite perch is his owner's shoulder, but K'trenal's head is always a suitable substitute.
